Post or die trying...

I've started numerous posts over the past month and failed to complete them all, so I'm going to get this one done or die trying.

For about the past 3 weeks J has been able to sit up well on his own. This has opened up a whole new world of play for him and Bug (and me too). Blocks are more fun, we're working on rolling a ball, etc.

We have also entered the backache phase where he wants to hold onto our fingers to walk everywhere. I have tried walking wings a couple of times but he seems to lean unnaturally forward in them so I'm not sure I'll use them much. Since Hubby is so much taller he will probably use them more.

The night before last Hubby purchased noise reducing earphones (adding to his current nighttime arsenal of earplugs and his noise maching) and gave me his blessing to let J self soothe at night. He howled and rolled around his crib from about 12:30 to 1:30. On the video monitor I could see he had gotten turned around so that his feet were at the elevated end of his bed, so I went in, calmed him down, and put him down with his head up and after a little more fussing he went back to sleep. I fed him at 5:30 and he slept until 8. LAST night he went down at the usual time and...slept until 8!!!!! I'm not expecting the same tonight, but I certainly won't complain if this becomes a habit.

J still isn't crawling, but neither Hubby nor I nor Bug crawled before we walked (I mean, how many people does he see crawling around versus walking?) He occasionally gets on his hands and knees so maybe he'll buck the trend.

I need to post about Bug too, but I'm tired and the possibility of another good night's sleep is a siren song luring me to bed. Hopefully more tomorrow...
