All in all it was good. As Hubby and I grow closer to Christ we see each day and the world increasingly more in light of Him and God's Word. That was certainly true this Easter. We were both determined to find a way to truly celebrate our Lord's resurrection even though we were at a bit of a loss as to how to go about doing that. As with other holidays we are in the process of initiating traditions for our family. We settled on a special breakfast (courtesy of Hubby), church, playing "Happy Day" as our theme song of the day, sprinkling Easter week readings from Bug's Bibles throughout the day, watching the Veggietales Easter video, and we gave Family Life's resurrection eggs a try. Most of that went well despite the fact that Bug had a bad cold.
Hubby and I were admittedly a bit skeptical about the eggs, but we really want Easter to be a fun day in addition to being a day of reflection. We ended up taking turns hiding the eggs one at a time in order. The first was found and opened and we read or paraphrased the portion of the story that corresponded to the item in the egg. Bug really enjoyed the "treasure hunt" and she seems to be starting to grasp Easter's significance (as much as an almost 4-year-old can).
Another positive to the day was the incredibly beautiful weather we had. It felt as if all of creation (at least in our neck of the woods) was celebrating Easter with us. Because Bug was sick we were unable to celebrate as planned with Hubby's parents so that was disappointing, but aside from that it was a great day.
