A few notes

This week J went from taking a few steps between objects to walking across the room, down the hall, to anywhere with a view of the great outdoors, after sister, after the dogs, mostly after me... He discovered the joy of splashing in the toilet and unrolling almost an entire roll of toilet paper. He is quite proud of himself and messes/inconveniences aside I am proud of him too. Let the games begin...

Finally got Bug's 4yr pics taken--only a month late. I always go to Portrait Innovations intent on just picking one pose for the large $9.95 package and I always leave with more. The curse of having kids who are so darn cute. :) Anyway, I settled for less than smallest pkg including the CD so the pics here are photos I took of the prints I got.

Bug also had her 4yr well child check-up this week. Yes, I'm behind on everything. She did SO well! She was friendly and polite with the doctor and she was super brave and tough with the 3 shots she needed (her courage MAY have been correlated with a bribe involving a sucker). Now she is done with immunizations until she is 11. It's a tough call as to which of us is happier about that.

One unusual item - she has begun narrating as she goes about her daily activities. For instance, she'll say something to me and then add "she said." I'm wondering if it is possible that we've been reading too many books??? :)

On a non-kid note: Hubby and I had fallen into a habit (mostly out of joint exhaustion) of reading a short devotional and then watching 20-30 minutes of TV together each night after getting the kids down. We kept the devotional but have started playing card/board games in place of TV. What a difference!! I feel more connected, I love the mental challenge of the games, and we're just having a lot more fun together--that time take me back to before we had kids. I adore him for a million reasons, but one of the top ones is his discernment when we're deviating from God's best and his leadership in getting us on the right track.
